Where Your Money Goes: About Chai Lifeline
When a child is born or diagnosed with a serious illness, it is not only the child that is affected. Families can be torn apart when one parent moves into the hospital to be with the sick child. Siblings (already worried about a brother’s or sister’s health) suffer even more when their daily routines are disrupted. Chai lifeline has helped and positively impacted over 400 sick children and over 2000 family members.
The financial devastation that can occur when one parent misses work for extended periods of time or leaves work entirely to care for their child can upset even the best-functioning family unit.
This is where Chai Lifeline steps in, offering whatever is needed. Chai offers services from counseling for each member of the family and an extra measure of adult attention and stability to children’s lives, to tutoring, and family retreats. Special sibling programs, information, peer and professional support, and summer camp programs for ill children to help the families retain a sense of normalcy and hope while fighting even the most dire pediatric diseases. All programs are free of charge.
